Tuberculosis or TB Is a common and often deadly infectious disease caused by mycobacterium usually mycobacterium tuberculosis.Genus mycobacteria is divided in to part
(i) Mycobacteria tuberculosis complex
(ii)NON Tuberculous Mycobacteria
Some Limitation of Microscopy for Tuberculosis are:
(i)Repeated sample examinations. load on technical staff.
(ii)Training and dedication of Microscopist.
(iii)The load of bacilli must be more than 10,000 / 1 ml of sputum.
(iv)Low in sensitivity < 50 %
(v)Repeated requests for samples
(vi)High drop out by patients, for repeated samples.
(vii)Not dependable in pediatric age group.
